Hi! I would like to ask few questions about DEChub 900 management. If I understand right I need DECrepeater 900 TM to do inband management from my NMS. A) If I have LAN environment with 30 DEChub900, do I need DECrepeater 900TM module in every DEChub900 to manage them inband with HUBwatch? B) Do I have to connect the NMS-station directly to the DECrepeater 900TM port? Regards, Risto

A) Yes, you need a module in each hub that is capable of providing IP services to the hub manager; at this time, that means a DECrepeater900TM. B) No, the NMS can be anywhere on your network as long as IP packets can reach the hub from it... It is also possible (though a bit of a kludge) to use a terminal server port (DECserver 90TL, 90M, or 900TM) connected to the OBM port of the hub manager to make the connection. The repeater is much better if you have it. Note that this is _NOT_ out-of-band management, since packets go in-band to the terminal server. |
