522.0. "Decserver 90l in Hub 90 & 900" by KERNEL::WARDJO () Thu Nov 25 1993 09:35
Hello,
Following on from note 509.9 can anyone confirm the following:-
For SNMP management with a dechub 90 and Decserver 90L modules only (no
repeaters) a Decbride 90 is NOT required in the Hub, only a DECagent 90
is required on the network?
For SNMP management with a Dechub 900 and Decserver 90L modules in the
hub, a Decagent 90 is required on the network to manage these modules
(even if you are using the Hub 900's own agent), but again a DECbridge
90 is NOT required in each Hub.
If anyone can clarify this for me I would be grateful. The
documentation I have read so far seems to be a bit vague on this point.
If I am wrong about the need for the Decbridge in the hub could someone
explain why it is required.
Thanks for any help,
Regards,
Jon

| You are correct, Jon. You do not need a DECbridge 90 to manage the DECserver
90Ls. A DECagent 90 somewhere on the network will suffice.
