489.0. "grounding of the 10BaseT repeaters for the 900 HUB" by ZUR01::SCHNEIDERR () Thu Nov 11 1993 02:26

We need to know how the shieldingconzept is for our 10BaseT repeaters for the
DEChub900.

- how are the RJ45 shields connected together on one module?
- how are the shields from the different modules connected together?
- how are the shields connected to the ground?
		- chassisground of the hub (mounting-screw or bracket?
		- chassisground of the module (mounting-screw or bracket)?
		- ground pin of the powerconnector?

We need ths knowledge because different customers have different grounding ans
shielding inviroments here in Switzerland and therefore you need to know where
is the shield connected, where is the ground connected......

Thanks for answers

489.1here's what I got from EngineeringDELNI::GIUNTAThu Nov 11 1993 12:4834
I asked Engineering for this information, and this is what I got:

- how are the RJ45 shields connected together on one module?

	> they are tied together by common etch and they are also tied to
	the conductive surface of the plastic box - chassis gnd.

- how are the shields from the different modules connected together?

	> the module is attached to the hub chassis via finger stock.
	This common chassis connection makes all the shields tied to
	earth gnd.

- how are the shields connected to the ground?
		- chassisground of the hub (mounting-screw or bracket?

			> Finger stock

		- chassisground of the module (mounting-screw or bracket)?

			> shielded connector housing (ears)

		- ground pin of the powerconnector?

			> hub conductive coating is tied to ground pin of
			the powerconnector

If you need more information, let me know.

Cathy,

Thakns for the answers. For the moment thats all. Maybe we will have other
questions like this during the project.
