Note 468.0 Customer questions about HW for Windows No replies

Hi,
We have loaned a copy of HubWatch for Windows to a customer that is already
using HubWatch for VMS, and after some initial testing they have asked
a few questions.
1. When they are monitoring a hub across the net and polling it for
statistics, how much information (in bytes or Kb) are they sending and
receiving to and from the hub. Typically they would be doing such
monitoring if they have noticed a performance problem, and they're trying
to get an understanding how the polling is adding to the problem.
JF> If they are at a network or site view, there is very, very little
JF> traffic between the PC and the hub. Once they zoom in to a hub, the
JF> traffic increases; I can't say how much, but I'm pretty sure that
JF> it's less than 20 packets per second.
2. According to the customer HubWatch for Windows allows polling
granularity of 3 seconds, and HubWatch for VMS only allows for a
granularity of 30 seconds. Why is this? Will the same granularity be
offerred in the next version of HubWatch for VMS?
JF> The existing HUBwatch for Windows is a buyout, and we took what
JF> was already in the vendor's products. Beginning with V2.0, the
JF> Windows product will be a port of the VMS product.
Thanks for any information that you can provide.
