Hi My query Hubwatch for windows come with the ability to manage elements which support management information base II ( MIB II) as defined by the Internet Standard RFC 1213. It also includes support for Network element which implement the following proposed MIB II group: RFC 1286 Bridge MIB RFC 1316 Character Stream device MIB RFC 1317 RS 232 interface type MIB RFC 1368 IEEE 802.3 Repeater MIB Does this mean that it can monitor, configure and control DECbridge 51x/52x/6xx series whose SNMP management supports MIB II. Bridge MIB, FDDI MIB and DEC's vendor MIB that includes extensions to the others. Also since FDDI Bridge series does not have a out of band managemnet port, the only way to manage the bridge would be through a Management station ???? Thanks Regards Vishy

Vishy, I assume you are reading the HUBwatch V1.0 or V1.1 SPD. It has customized screens for the standard MIBs listed. It does not have a MIB compiler however, and thus does not support any DEC specific extensions, other than for the DEChub 90 devices. HUBwatch for Windows Version 2.0 will manage only DEChub devices, but will manage both 90 and 900. With Version 3.0 and HP OpenView for Windows, I believe you can then fully do what you are asking. jack |
