452.0. "Hubwatch for windows support across the network" by BBIV02::XFMV01::VISHWANATH () Wed Oct 27 1993 07:17

   Hello

I have a query on HUBwatch for windows

The network consists of 4 DEChub 900 across a FDDI ring and connected
    through DB520.

Will the latest version of HUBwatch manage the DEchub 900 also. If
    so then

My query is that can a PC running Hubwatch for windows manage all the
hubs across the network or individual hubs are to be managed by
    seperate HUbwatch.

    Thanks in advance

    Regards
    Vishy

The next version of HUBwatch for Windows (due in December, I think) will
manage the DEChub 900. It's supposed to be functionally equivalent to
V2.0 of HUBwatch for OpenVMS VAX released earlier this month.

You can manage any DEChub anywhere on your network with HUBwatch. Across
the LAN or across the WAN. You need one workstation or one PC. Just tell
HUBwatch which hub you want to look at next.

Of course, if you've got a big WAN (like the Easynet, for example), you might
want multiple PC's or workstations closer to the hubs to be managed for quicker
response time. But, if your entire net is on an FDDI, you won't notice any
difference.

    Hi,
Thanks a lot for the answers..

The spd for Hubwatch for Windows says that one can manage devices which
    are SNMP based..

Please let meknow whether a external device ( not within a hub) for ex
Debridge 520 can be also managed through Hubwatch for windows or one
will require Polycenter to manage it.

    Thanks in advance

No, non-hub devices are not supported by HUBwatch.
