410.0. "Padlock ob front panel" by DPDMAI::DAVIES (Mark, SCA Area Network Consultant) Tue Oct 05 1993 21:49

    the DS90TL and 90M both have a little hole/opening at the bottom of the
    front panel which has the impression of a pad lock beside it.

    What is for, what does it mean and how do you use it?

    Thanks,

    Mark

This is the factory reset button. Press and hold it while applying power
to the module. Don't ask me why they have chosen a padlock symbol.

If you take a close look, the symbol is of an unlocked pad lock. Basically,
pressing this button while applying power to the module will perform a factory
reset which, among other things, disables any security access (clear passwords,
etc.) that may have been previously set.

410.4A rose, depicted by any other icon...TOOK::D_NELSONDave Nelson LKG1-3/A11 226-5358Wed Oct 06 1993 13:5224
    .3 explains the use of the open padlock icon. It makes as much sense
    as any of these icons make (at least to *me*). Maybe I'm just icon
    illiterate.

    The DS700 used a different icon for the same button. This one is even
    less obvious. It looks something like this:

    			------>
                        |
                        |    o
                         \__/

    Cute, eh?

    BTW, RE: .1, you don't have to hold the button in at power up on the
    DS90TL or DS90M. Just press it before the 6th LED lights during
    power-on self test and wait for the Network and Selftest LEDs to flash
    rapidly before releasing the button.

    Regards,

    Dave
