405.0. "Interface of the OBM port on DH900?" by ARRODS::GILLJ (John, DTN 847-5849) Thu Sep 30 1993 07:13

Can someone tell me what interface is provided on the out of band
management port of the DEChub 900? Is it RJ45, RS232 or something
    else.

    Thanks

    John

The OBM is RS232 DB9 connector. It is a SLIP port only, no character cell. The
DH900 also has a setup port on it, it is RJ45. The setup port has very limited
functionality, like setting up the in/out-of-band mgmt port IP address, setting
obm port speed, reseting the DH900 and redirecting the console to a DH900
module.

Could anyone confirm that the pin-out standard RS232?

    Thanks

It is RS232 with a DB9 connector. I have connected the OBM with a H8571-J and
BN24H cable to DS900 SLIP port and have made a connection to with HUBwatch.

    'standard' RS-232 uses a DB25 connector.

The OBM port uses RS-232 signaling on a DB9 connector. This is what
IBM PC/Clones do; modem cables made for a PC will work for connecting
to a modem; the cable combination in 405.3 will work for connecting to
any of the DEC terminal servers that provide SLIP.
