357.0. "HUBwatch over SLIP?" by ARRODS::GILLJ (John, DTN 847-5849) Wed Aug 25 1993 14:23
Hi,
Is HUBwatch for VMS supported over SLIP (assuming we use UCX on the VMS
system, and a port on a DECserver 90TL?)?
If so, is there any loss in functionality (other than poor performance) in
running HUBwatch over SLIP?
If not, are there any plans to support it over SLIP?
Any help appreciated.
Regards,
John

What is there to support?
As long as you can get from the VMS machine to the AGENT, then it
is just talking snmp and is going to work (but slowly if the link
speed isn't high enough...)
This is a 64k slip link right... ;-)

| Thanks for the answer Mike,
It will be a SLIP link through a port on a DECserver 90TL which is
configured in a DEChub. The cable coming out of this port is then
connected to the "OPCOM" port of another DEChub.
There are various security reasons for not being able to connect to the
second DEChub over Ethernet.
I presume your answer still stands.
