315.0. "Speed of DECbrouter 90 ???" by HGOVC::GUPTA () Tue Jul 27 1993 00:03

What is the network speed at which DECbrouter 90T modules work ?

I have checked up SPD (48.53) and DECbrouter 90T Installation and
Operating Information but none of these documents talk about the
network speed these modules support. Will it support T1 as well as E1
    line speeds ?

Moreover, what are the performance figures for these modules ?
Bridging, routing performance figures for both one line and two line
    modules ?

    Regards,
    Surender

SURENDER,

Just got word back from the Brouter product manager, Alice Hassey:

All variations of the DECbrouter work up to T1/E1 speed. The single port
variation works up to T1/E1.
The Dual port brouter can have one port running at T1/E1 and the other port
running at 64K throughput, this is if you are running them simultaneously.
Either port on the dual port module can run at T1/E1 it is a matter of
total throughput when running both ports at once.

We just had Scott Bradner do some performance testing for us and this
will be published.

Here are some preliminary performance numbers:

Bridging over T1 line - 2761 pps (0064 byte packets)

IP over T1 line - 2975 pps (0064 byte packets)

IPX over T1 line - 2975 pps (0064 byte packets)

DECnet over T1 line - 2975 pps (0064 byte packets)

Hope this helps, a more complete report will be coming out..
