290.0. "SET ADDRESS in DB90?" by OSLACT::BJORN (Bjrn Olav Haugom) Thu Jul 01 1993 07:36
Are there any plans for implementing SET ADDRESS in the DECbridge90?
We need to manually set a LAN-address in the STATIC FORWARDING DATABASE.
We also need to do this from DECmcc.
The background is a Siemens PLC talking to a VAX using DECOSAP. The PLC is
located on the workgroup side of the bridge, and is silent, so the DECbridge
won't list it in the forwarding database. When the VAX transmits messages to
the PLC, the DB90 checks it's forwarding database, doesn't find the PLC-address,
so it discards the message.
On the LANbridge 150, this doesn't occur, because it forwards the message
anyway, even if it doesn't find the address in it's forwarding database.

I don't think you will ever see this function in the DB90.
