Since our repeaters do not have the ability to show statistics by port until the decrepeater 900's are available would the following be an alternative? Install the packet monitor (when available) and via hubwatch software the network manager can see if excessive traffic is being generated by a certain e-net address. From this information the user can identify the port and if a decrepeater 90 (in a bridge) is being used then the port can be turned off remotely or if a dempr or detpr is being used then the port can be physically unplugged.

According to what statistics you want. The packet monitor will tell you good traffic by address. If you have errors, you probably will not find them because many errors scrape off the address and thus nobody can figure out where they came from (not even the packet monitor!) |
