209.1 | HUBwatch 1.1 workaround | SLINK::HOOD | Just add water | Wed Apr 21 1993 18:42 | 11 |
| When HUBwatch V1.1 is released, you can use it to implement a workaround
for the Disappearing 1meg DS90TL's.
Use HUBwatch's Add Module window to add the DECserver90TL to the hub, and
make sure you've got Slot Polling disabled. voila! Manageable 1meg 90TL's
that don't disappear.
The DS90TL's with >1meg do not disappear and don't require this special
treatment.

Thanks Tom for quick reply, but sorry but I missed out that the
customer who is having this disappearing trick with his Decagent 90,
isnt running Hubwatch but is presently monitoring his network with just
the DECagent and connecting thru the RS232 port on the Agent90
He is hoping to get the Hubwatch for Windows when its finally released.
Likes the Cost compared to other management Systems.

209.3 | DECagent does not manage DECserver 90TL | EMDS::SEAVER | Bill Seaver, HUBwatch Mktg | Thu May 27 1993 23:00 | 7 |
| DECagent v1.1 (see EMDS::MANAGEMENT:AGENT_LOAD.TXT for a pointer)
should show the DECserver 90TL. This will not help your customer at
all, tho. The 90TL has it's own SNMP agent, so all the DECagent will
show is the slot in the hub that contains the agent. Any management is
done thru the agent in the 90TL and not thru the DECagent 90. The
DECagent 90 only proxies for (and thus will give out of band management
for) the DECservers 90 L/ L+, all DECrepeater 90s and DECbridge 90s.
