192.0. "DECagent T1.1 does not display anything" by MEO78A::BARNHOORN (Barney to his friends) Mon Mar 22 1993 22:07

I installed the lastest DENMA (DECagent) software T1.1-75 into my DECagent 90,
It loaded successfully, well it displayed the "image load complete" message.
We then started the image
CCI> start 200000
The leads flashed as described, but no response ever came onto the terminal.

We reloaded the image a number of times, but never got any response on the
terminal, or hubwatch.

We then reinstalled/reloaded the V1.0 image and it works fine, it even remembered
its configuration information.

Is there a later version of the DECagent software?

Is there any other tricks to get T1.1 working ?

Thanks in advance

Mark Barnhoorn

192.1X1.76 coming soonKALI::GAUDETTue Mar 23 1993 07:444
    Yes, wait for the next version. There were some serious problems with
    X1.75, although it should have at least brought up the console screen.

192.2DECagent V1.1 module/port display problemsCGOS01::DMARLOWEdsk dsk dsk (tsk tsk tsk)Tue Apr 13 1993 15:0963
    I just installed the FT1.1 version for the DECagent. BL05.00 SW=X1.77
    is the info from HUBWATCH for VMS when I click on the agent. There
    seems to be a problem with this software. On both the OBM port,
    (1) SHOW COMMUNITY and HUBWATCH VMS, repeater ports randomly light
    up green indicating valid connections and then go out. The OBM
    port and HUBWATCH show the same thing, ie. same ports are valid
    or not valid. Not to mention entire repeaters come and go and the
    DECbridge 90 also disappeared and came back (bottom of log below).

    Also had problems upgrading the flash RAM thru CCI so used NCP trigger
    and all was fine.

192.3Now it works.CGOS01::DMARLOWEdsk dsk dsk (tsk tsk tsk)Wed Apr 14 1993 14:075
    I just did a reset to factory defaults via the OBM port. Added the
    bridge module and for the last hour everything seems to be running fine
    now.  Go figure!

192.4Hmm ... more input, SVPKALI::GAUDETWed Apr 14 1993 21:0110
    Gee Dave, that is strange. What version of DECagent firmware were you
    running prior to installing X1.77? I am very interested in this, since
    I have made it a *VERY* high priority to make sure that when the
    customer upgrades their DECagent(s) from V1.0 to V1.1 they don't have
    to do a reset to factory.

    Any information you can provide about your configuration will be
    helpful.  Thanks.

    ...Roger...  DECagent 90 devo.
192.5Maybe I was just unlucky?CGOS01::DMARLOWEdsk dsk dsk (tsk tsk tsk)Thu Apr 15 1993 14:0316
    Well I tried going back to V1.0 and then upgrading to V1.1 and
    everything worked out great this time. Maybe the version that was
    in flash when it was shipped was a very early V1.0??

first version (from net, may not have been what was in DECagent when
    shipped):

HW=D01 ROM=BL05.00 SW=V1.0

upgrade to V1.1:

HW=D01 ROM=BL05.00 SW=X1.77

    Call it a fluke and we'll call it square.

192.6Have X1.77 installed but the bridge is goneMEO78A::BARNHOORNBarney to his friendsMon Apr 19 1993 23:4313

I've been able to install X1.77 of the Agent software, it picked up most of the
orginal configuration, but for the decbridge 90.

When I do a show community, or show module slot 8 is empty.
If I try adding a bridge to slot 8, the agent returns with

"you cannot add another bridge to this community"

thanks
Mark.
192.7Reset might fix things up.CGOS01::DMARLOWEdsk dsk dsk (tsk tsk tsk)Tue Apr 20 1993 11:585
    Try doing a reset to factory defaults and then entering the bridge
    again. Maybe your problem is not too different from mine due to
    an extremely old previous version of code.

192.88-slot becomes 16-slotRDGENG::GREIDSo Far. So Good, So What ?Wed Apr 21 1993 04:077
    I had a similar problem with this only to find that what had been an
    8-slot community had turned into a 16-slot community. You may want to
    check using a console connection into the Agent and see if it now
    thinks you have a 16-slot hub. I had to delete the hub and re-add it.

192.9reset for factory defaults worked, but is a pain..MEO78A::BARNHOORNBarney to his friendsMon Apr 26 1993 20:0610

re .7 and .8

yes, resetting the agent to factory defaults then adding the bridge in again
worked, but that is a real pain.

thanks

Mark.
