107.0. "Password Reset on DECagent 90?" by GUCCI::DMCCLOUD (Dennis McCloud - SOA ANC) Mon Dec 21 1992 15:01

Is there another way to reset the DECagent 90 password other than the
lock button on the bottom? I have a DECagent that will not allow me
access and the reset button does not appear to reset the password on
    this DECagent.

Can you reset the password through the CCI interface or by reloading
    the microcode?

    Thanks,

Dennis,

To reset the password on the DECagent 90:

    - Power the module off/on.

    - Depress the unlock button (on the bottom of the front bezel as it sits
in the hub) during the time the module goes from self-test into
normal operating mode. This is the time when the led's go from only
the top led on (power ok) to the second led coming on (self-test ok).
You can depress the button anytime as long as it is depressed during
        the transition.

Depressing the button during normal operation has no effect.

Normal led sequence after power is applied:

    - all led's turn on (lamp check). Approximately 1 second.
    - all led's except top led (power ok) turn off. Module in self-test mode.
      Approximately 15 seconds.
    - second led comes on (self-test ok).
    - third led comes on if network properly terminated.

You can change the password via console menu #12 (Change Security
Configuration) but you need to know the password to get into console mode.

Console menu #21 (Restore Factory Settings) will delete the password and all
community information stored. Again, you need to know the password to get into
console mode.

Loading the firmware image doesn't reset the password.

Using CCI is not recommended. It is mainly a manufacturing tool and is not
supported.

Hope this helps,

Dave Iacobone

If all else fails, you should be able to clear the SRAM with
Test 7 from the CCI prompt (manufacturing test mode). To do this

Set your terminal up for 9600 baud, no parity, 1 stop bit

	Power cycle the DECagent 90.

Five to ten seconds after power up hit Control I - you might have
to repeat ^I a few times until you get the CCI prompt. Then type
"test/test=7", and answer "yes" after the warning.

Then power cycle again and hit return after self test has passed.

It appears that you need to hold the reset button in until all three
    lights come on.
