Hi peeps, On a DECbridge 90 adding one filter of type forward should put the bridge in 'invert protocol mode'. Previous notes have already discussed that it still lets packets through. Wouldn't it make more sense to stop all traffic in 'invert protocol mode' whether it recognised the frame format or not. The DECbridge manual does say... SET PROTOCOL protocol number FORWARD protocol id Sets the specified protocol type to be one of a limited number of protocol types that are forwarded, where all others are filtered. If this ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ command is accepted, the bridge is placed into 'invert protocol filter' mode. If we don't change the bridge function coulnd't we get a documentation changed to mention this 'feature' ? Alan.

It is a bug. From: KALI::PRNSYS::LOMICKAJ "Jeffrey A. Lomicka, Maynard MA, DTN 223-4031 22-Jan-1993 1104" 22-JAN-1993 11:03:54.20 To: KALI::EMDS::SEAVER CC: Subj: RE: Notefile HUB_MGNT Note 83.0 I suppose we could slip an eratta into the manual, but I don't exactly know about how to go about doing that. Alice also wanted to put something in discussing the use of two DECbridge-90 in the same hub. Perhaps these could be combined... I'll try to keep this in mind as I get into the ECO for version 3.1 of the firmware. |
