I am responding to an RFP for a local college and the college asks the following question: " The Vendor shall discuss its product support or planned support on the draft IEEE standard P802.3K, Layer Management for HUB devices" Can anyone explain what this stardard is and do our management products support this standard. Thanks, Sean

39.1 | IEEE P802.3K is basically a Repeater management spec | MEMIT::FORREST | Mon Mar 23 1992 13:03 | 13 | |
This spec is basically a description of manageable attributes of repeaters. The draft is still evolving; the person who tracks this spec for DEC expects a few more changes before it is approved. The IEEE gets upset when vendors advertise compliance with a spec that hasn't yet been approved. We tried to comply with the mandatory pieces of an early version of it, when we did the DECrepeater 90C and 90T. You can expect future repeater products to comply with whatever draft is current when we have to freeze the design. jack |
