THIS MEMO: How you can find information NOW about DEChub 90 management.

SUMMARY: Graphical, SNMP Management of the DEChub 90 will be available by this
 summer, and seeds will be available in the spring.  HUBwatch for Windows (TM),
 MSU, or DECmcc, in conjunction with the DECagent 90, will give the DEChub 90
 management options similar to those provided by competitors such as SynOptics
 and Cabletron.  What follows are 4 ways you can get information about HUBwatch
 so you can start selling your customer NOW.

1. A public directory on ENGINE::$1$DUA4:[SMART_HUB90.MANAGEMENT]
      (includes presentation and pictures- more detail below)

2. LENAC session at US Net U, 4:30PM, Wednesday, 5 February 1992 which covers:
    -How to use the information in the public directory. 
    -Free COLOR foils to help you sell HUBwatch
    -A demo of HUBwatch for MSU and HUBwatch for Windows.
    -A BOF until 7:30 PM to answer specific questions.

3. A notes file on ENGINE::HUB_MGNT

4. Sending mail to me at EMDS::SEAVER.  Also send me mail for seed units.

As of 23 January 1992, the following files are on the public directory
ENGINE::$1$DUA4:[SMART_HUB90.MANAGEMENT].  This directory is updated frequently
and I will be adding PID_BACKGROUND (management section only),
WHAT_CAN_BE_MANAGED_ON_REPEATERS, and WISH_LIST (for future enhancements.

FILES

AGENT_DETAIL= Screen on HUBwatch for Windows(TM) used to control the DECagent
	90 (DEMNA).
DEC.EXE= HUBwatch for Windows demo program.  Read 
	WINDOWS_DEMO_INSTRUCTIONS.TXT for instructions.
HOW_AGENT_WORKS = Diagram of how agent translates protocols.  Most customers
        ask this question.
OCT91_Q_AND_A.TXT = Question and answers sent out for Oct 91 program
	announcement covering the David agreement and and overview of 
	management functionality to be provided.
PRELIMINARY_AGENT_MANUAL= first pass at user's manual.
PRESENTATION on management of the DEChub 90.  Has basic presentation and
	optional slides that can be shown to customers.
READ_ME.TXT = this file.
* REPEATER_DETAIL= Screen on HUBwatch for Windows used to control the 
	10baseT	repeater (DETMR).
WINDOWS_DEMO_INSTRUCTIONS.TXT= instructions for running HUBwatch for 
	Windows demo.
* WINDOWS_ERROR_SCREEN= Screen of hub with one of each module on it as seen 
	on HUBwatch for Windows.  Screen also shows various error 
	conditions and naming options for ports and modules.
WINDOWS_HELP_SCREENS= Describes fields in the Windows screens.
* WINDOWS_REPEATERS= Screen of hub full or 10baseT repeaters as seen 
	with HUBwatch for Windows.  This would be a typical screen for 
	a customer with many PCs connected.

* These screens are available as color foils.  Send mail to EMDS::JTAYLOR with
	you mail stop if you want a set.

NOTE ON FILE EXTENSIONS:
BMP= DOS bit map, can be imported into paint package or printed on printer 
      connected to PC (original is in color).
PS = Postscript- I can only get black and white out of this although original 
      BMP files are in color.

NOTE: most screen .PS files can only be mailed by using the SEND/FOREIGN
command.

We will put the Internal Field Test version in the public directory that 
was mentioned in 23.0. This will probably happen sometime in February. 
Of course you will not be able to demo anything without the DECagent 90 
and the other hub modules.
