1092.1 | Found .0's answer in 919, Msg Tracking problem is now problem | GANTRY::HULL | Systems Integration [Delivery]/Motown | Fri May 30 1997 16:58 | 11 |
| I found note 919 after I posted .0 - the exact same problem. solution says
just install the 'ms exchange connector'. what cd is that on? I ran ms
Exch Srv setup and it doesn't list that under any compenent choice for
install/remove. Is this a separatre CD?
What I'm trying to do is get message tracking enabled on this small 1-node
system, but turning on Msg Tracking checkboxes on both the IMS and the Info
Store still doesn't track any messages. Nothing is ever geting written to
the tracking log file. I did stop and restart the services, etc.
Help!!

1092.2 | seperate CD's/floppies | UTRTSC::utojscho1.uto.dec.com::UTURBO::Schollaert | | Mon Jun 02 1997 09:34 | 8 |
| Connectors are on seperate CD's/floppies.
We have the Microsoft Select CD set. The Index indicates
which CD contains the Connectors.

1092.3 | Wrong license! | DYPSS1::YINGLING | Dave (N8UTX), NSIS, Dayton, OH USA | Mon Jun 02 1997 12:36 | 12 |
| Your customer has installed the non-Enterprise version of the Exchange server.
Yes, it has an MTA process, but it is neither visible nor controllable via the
Exchange Administrator program. Note that the Internet Mail Service (V5.0
nomenclature) is available.
I don't think by just installing another connector that the MTA object will
suddenly appear - but I've been wrong before. I believe that you have a
licensing issue here.

1092.4 | enabling tracking on IMS? | GANTRY::HULL | Systems Integration [Delivery]/Motown | Mon Jun 02 1997 15:54 | 13 |
| My ultimate objective here was to turn on message tracking while we were
trying to debug their IMS connection inbound and outbound. I found the
track messages check box on the IMS setup screen, but it had no effect.
When I tried to scan the log for any messages sent by the Admin acct for
instance, it always comes back with 0 found, when we know we've sent half
a dozen msgs out, etc.
Any further tips on getting tracking working are welcome!
Regards,
Al

1092.5 | I'm clueless... | DYPSS1::YINGLING | Dave (N8UTX), NSIS, Dayton, OH USA | Tue Jun 03 1997 12:40 | 19 |
| Al,
I went down the same path, however the customer really needed the Enterprise
version so they sent me home until they got the right CD. From my
limited understanding of Exchange internals, the MTA is component that all
messages route through so it stands to reason that message tracking is enabled
via the MTA.
Unless there is a different set of documentation for the non-enterprise
version that describes an alternate message tracking procedure, I think you
might be stuck. As I'm sure you know already, there is no Knowledge Base
article regarding this. Does the customer have a Microsoft telephone support
contract that you could place a call?

Dave
