1072.0. "Outlook user defined fields in contact forms" by ODIXIE::DWILLIAMS () Tue May 20 1997 19:02
I'm using outlook97 with exchange server....
I created a custom contacts folder and customized the contacts form
to
contain user defined fields. I need to take my existing contacts,
created using the default contacts form and copy them to the new
folder
with the new form so I can add data to the user defined fields.
I have tried copying them within Outlook but they always wind up
with
the default contact form, not the new one with the user defined
fields.
I have tried exporting and then importing but the same
occurs...apparently if you import to a folder of type contacts you
can
only get the default contacts form not the custom one associated
with
the folder.
I also tried creating a few contacts using the custom form and
exporting that. Again, I can only export the derfault Contact form
fields.
I found a paper on Microsofts page Article ID Q161295 that implies that
it cannot be done currently. The workaround they mention will only let
you do 4 user defined fields. I have many more than that!
How can I get around this? I don't want to retype over 2000 contatcts!!
Thanks,
Dave
