Sorry if there's already a topic covering this. Any advice on the following problem? Consistently, when finishing editing an Exchange mail, exiting Word and exiting Exchange, I get a pop-up window with the message WordBasic Err=7 ! Out of memory. and I'm left with an empty Word window to close down. This is unrelated to what applications I've got running, and I have 32Mb memory so it's not a *real* out of memory problem.... Thanks, Mike

Mike, When you do find an answer, please post it here. I am now getting the same error, but I also get it when I go into Word directly, without Exchange, so I had not considered it to be related to Exchange. Jane Brzozowski

In my case, this turned out to be caused by a macro left in Word by the Word Concept virus! Here's how I fixed it, with Microsoft's phone support: NOTE: this only works if you do not have anything customized in your Normal.dot template. In Word: Go to Tools > Macro. If there are any macros that you did not create, called AutoStart or Auto-anything, delele them. Close Word. Find Normal.Dot and rename it to Normal.old Reboot. Restart word. Word will create a new normal.dot
