Hi all.. I am not sure that this is best place to ask this, if not if I could be pointed in the right direction that would be great! I have recently started using the Exchange client (windows messaging) on my NT4.0 (alpha) box to retrieve mail from a POP3 server. It works OK, the only problem is that it seem to check for mail at some built in time period... when it does fund something it then retrieves and deletes it from the server. Since I also use a machine in the lab (via Netscape) this means that I can not read my mail unless in my office. Is there a way to tell the client to retrieve mail only when I specifically tell it to? I have looked under the options and can not find such a setting. Oh, while I think of it... another one that I can not find is an auto-append of a signature file... any ideas? Thanks in advance, -John

Auto Signature is under the Tools menu. It allows you to create multiple signatures if you so desire.

Open your profile that connects to the POP3 system. Check out the remote mail features. It should be able to poll on a schedule, download headers, allow retrieval of "copies" of messages, etc. Note that remote mail is a connectivity option that can be used with existing LAN or dialup. The Exchange Client from Exchange is different from the Windows Messaging client, but Internet Mail Service can be used in either one. (I have used the Win95 WM client against an ISP this way, but haven't used NT4.0 with WM client, so forgive vague description) [email protected] Tal.

It would appear that the Windows Messaging client is not the same as the Exchange client (even thought it runs exchng32.exe) and it does not have all of the same features... I guess that I will go looking for the Exchange client instead. Anyone happen to know if the mail boxes that the Windows Messaging client creates can then be read in by Exchange client? Thanks for all the info, -John |
