1000.0. "need help configuring Netscape for Exchange mail" by LEXSS1::LOMBARDI (PCBU Technical Support) Sat Apr 12 1997 13:42

How does one configure Netscape to use your exchange server for mail.
In other words, if my exchange server is on LEXEXC1, then what goes into the
fields for mail setup in Netscape(e.g. Outgoing SMTP Server, incoming Mail
Server, Server type(IMAP or POP3). IE integrates Outlook/exchange very nicely.
I would like to have the same convenience wity Netscape as well.

Thanks in advance.

What I have is...

Outbound SMTP = us1rmc.bb.dec.com
Inbound = blank
POP3 = blank
NEWS = mrnews.mro.dec.com

if you find out, please post here. There's a checkbox
on the Options -> Mail & News -> Appearance, which
supposedly allows you to choose either Netscape (POP)
or the Exchange client. I actually think it worked
for me at one point - possibly before I started
fooling around with Navigator Gold. In theory, if
you check use Exchange, it should do it, but it
doesn't work for me.

    Exchange Server (V4.0 anyway) uses a propietary mail protocol which
    Navigator does not speak.

    Is there at least a way to share address books? (I was pointed here
    from the Internet_tools conference.

    Perhaps asked before -- if so, sorry. I couldn't find it.

    Is there a way to synchronize MS Exchange mail's personal address
    folder with Netscape's address folder? I hate to enter addresses
    twice.

    (If not the right conference, please point me to another. Thanks)

1000.5Seems to work with a simple config change. Check Box.JULIET::HARRIS_MANetworks Sales ExecWed Apr 23 1997 18:557
    I just Checked the BOX that says "Use Exchange" (did nothing else), it
    it works fine. Anytime I have a webpage with an EMAIL address, a single
    click brings up Excahnge client.

    Seems to work for me...
