980.0. "Breaking into my own password protected .PST" by DECWET::VOBA () Fri Apr 04 1997 15:19

I'd appreciate any pointers for how to back out of the following
    situation.

Let's say i have a .PST with password protection. The password is
saved on my system where i run the Client but the actual store is on a
communal server. My system is refreshed with a new installation of NT
(the disk corrupts, or whatever) and so as my Client set up.

I'm now trying to restore the PST service to the same .PST password
protected store. The problem is, i don't quite remember the password
anymore and thus can no longer get to it.

    What can i do?

If you have forgotten the password for a .PST file, then you cannot
	get access back to it.

There is nothing you can do short of dumping the .PST file and stepping
through byte by byte to try and find the correct Hex segment. Not
something that I would do or really recommend.
