Here's the scoop: Testing out Exchange 5.0 (release can. 1) on an Alpha. 25 users. Mail internally runs great. We can even get the system to dial out to an ISP and connect in 5min intervals. The problem is we cannot pull down the pop3 mail located at a different ISP than the one we are calling (if that makes a difference). The mail is stored on an NT machine running Altavista mail version 2. Exchange does not seem to have any way of including a pop3 username and password on the mailbox profiles. We can't SEND mail to the internet either. Troubleshooted: DNS - OK IP - OK NT passwords are the same as pop3, now. I appreciate anyone's help. 955.1 | Are you sure fetching from a POP mailbox is a feature ? | tunsrv2-tunnel.imc.das.dec.com::foster | Stan Foster - [email protected] | Sat Mar 22 1997 22:07 | 8 |
I'm not certain but I didnt think Exchange 5.0 would pull mail from any POP server.. It will dial the ISP etc but it is expecting to get mail vis SMTP using deferred send on the ISP, not via POP3. There are widgets you can use such as pullmail which will fetch from a POP mailbox and repost via SMTP which would do what you want. |
