837.0. "PST file 'partially locked"" by KYOSS1::MARKOWITZ () Fri Jan 24 1997 14:43
I have a pst file set up on the exchange client.
When the client is NOT running, I try to copy the .pst to another
location for backup purposes.
When trying the copy, from either a dos program or explorer, or using
the imoga ditto backup, it says that the file is partially locked by
another user. Even after rebooting the client, prior to running any
applications, I get the same message.
Whats going on?

It probably means that some MAPI session is running and hence
has an open lock on the .PST file in question.
Can you display a task list of running processes ?
This should then show you which MAPI sessions are running...

| I had this problem when I had the AltaVista Search My Computer software
installed. I had to shut down both components before I could access the
PST files.
