| Hello,
Have anybody tried to set up the cc:Mail connector yet.
The customer I work with for the moment have tried, and
the IMPORT and EXPORT services just seems to die without
returning any error code.
It would be nice to hear if anybody have made it work.

| I setup the CC:Mail connecter and it seemed to work ok.
I think you had to be careful of the version you were running.
I don't have it working at the moment, although I could have a
look if you like.
I am running 5.0 RC1
cheers,
Mike

755.4 | I will try again with the final release | OSL09::nwosm.nwo.dec.com::OSL04::SVEIN | NSIS, WINDOWS NT CONSULTING | Thu Mar 13 1997 17:13 | 20 |
| Mike,
I have managed to get hold of the final version of Exchange 5.0
from Microsoft and have installed it at the customers site. But
we still seem to have the same problem.
It seems like we have missed something in our cc:Mail connector
configuration. The event log gives us an error code stating that
either the connector is configured wrong or no connection with
the cc:Mail post office can be made.
I will check it out again and get some more details.
We may also deinstall and the current installation and do a new
clean one with the final version.
Thanks for your reply so far, and I will get back to you
when I have tried a few more things and put down some more details.

755.5 | Are you running cc:Mail on NetWare? | OSL09::nwosm.nwo.dec.com::OSL04::SVEIN | NSIS, WINDOWS NT CONSULTING | Mon Mar 17 1997 16:18 | 17 |
| Mike,
I have checked out the setup a bit more today. At this
customer site the cc:Mail postoffice is running on a NetWare
server, therefor it have to connect via the Gateway Service
for NetWare which is running on the NT server. However I found
that the service account for the cc:Mail connector was not
a Novell account aswell, so I hoped I had found the problem, but
it was not that easy afterall.
Can you give a bit more details on your configuration, on what platform
are you running your cc:Mail postoffice?
regards
Svein

755.7 | got it working | GIDDAY::DRANSFIELD | Mike Dransfield, Sydney RSSG | Fri Mar 21 1997 03:24 | 16 |
| Just to let anyone know that I got it setup and working.
I used cc:mail V6 and it was a little tricky.
I had to copy *port.exe from the ccadmin directory into my exchange
servers path as well as ie.ri.
I had to add a post office entry for my exchange server on the cc:mail
post office (using admin - manage mail directory)
I modified the address format on exchange to be %f %s at postoffice
and used first last at ccpo1 for my cc:mail post office.
cheers,
Mike

755.9 | Still some problems | OSL09::nwosm.nwo.dec.com::OSL04::SVEIN | NSIS, WINDOWS NT CONSULTING | Tue Apr 08 1997 17:46 | 26 |
| Mike,
I have tried to make it work again but still have some problems.
The Exchange server is V5.0 retail version, the cc:Mail post office
is a V8 database and we are using the V6 export/import.
When I initiate a dirsync all entries in the NT event log indicate
that the dir sync went OK. in the dirsync export/import catalogs
(connector store) text files are created with all entries from the
cc:Mail post office. (users, adresse lists, buletin boards) Also
the entries from the Exchange server looks OK. In the event log
we find entries telling us that parsing is starting, how many
entries it have found and so on, however nothing shows up in the
container (ccMail recipients) that we have made.
I also set up the adresse like you said with %f %l.
I have heard from somebody else that they have made it work
with DB6 but not with DB8. When you say cc:Mail V6 do you mean
DB6 or import/export V6?

755.11 | It finally works. | OSL09::nwosm.nwo.dec.com::OSL04::SVEIN | NSIS, WINDOWS NT CONSULTING | Tue Apr 15 1997 20:43 | 16 |
| Hi,
I finally made it work, it ended up with the import/export that had been
put in the cc:Mail share in the customers post office share were from
an older version. I did not think of checking that out before, since the
post office had been upgraded I assumed that the admin programs would have
been too.
Thanks for testing out the connector for us.
By the way, when you have the import/export V6, you have a database V8.

Svein
