Hello, I'm about to install BRS 1.4 on a workstation with already installed DEcwindiws Motif 1.2-4, UCX 4.1 and PCM 1.6 ECO 4. Should I downgrade to the lower versions of the above software, that is tho the versions stated in the BRS install procedure? Thanks, tano

I didn't. But I had to modify the BRSINSTAL.COM procedure to reflect the more recent versions.

Yes, I know I have to modify BRSINSTAL, but is BRS supported on the latest versione and ECO patches of the prerequisite software?

Sorry, can't offer guarantees but I'm sure many BRS sites are using more recent versions of layered products than what BRS says it officially supports. I'm not in a capacity to say anything official on this so I'll let the experts have their say. What may be more interesting is when OpenVMS 7.1 sites start using CA supplied POLYCENTER releases. Is there anything going to be announced on the ongoing and future support of BRS with more recent releases of OpenVMS and the layered products? Or is BRS being phased out and replaced by something else? Or will it be left to CA-Unicenter TNG to gradually phase in the same features for cluster monitoring and management? Somehow I doubt that. I suppose the ideal in a mixed system environment would be to use the TNG SDK to hook into any of our future home grown modules for managing the cluster(s) and have the best of both worlds. |
