I was wondering after searching thru these notes, what is the proper method to download to the Vax a TOS file, then what type of format is required for the 3.5 floppy on the Vax, so that I can take it to a 520ST, and run the file. Its been a long time since I did this and things have change from what I've read and am a bit confused as to what I need to do. I have seen many TOS files in directories, can they be copied and just run on the ST. I tried one TOS file and got nothing but crc errors as it was extracting itself... Any help would be appreciated.. Thanks, Felix

Felix, If you are using FTP to get a TOS file from a Unix system, then you must first set the transfer mode to binary. When the file has arrived, you must use Pathworks to transfer it to a 720K formatted floppy disk on a PC. The ST should be able to read the 720K disk. If you are copying the file from another VMS system, then the mode does not matter. Copy the file as you would any VMS file, then use Pathworks to transfer it to a 720K disk on a PC. Grant |
