A floppy drive question:
A while ago I had problems with my floppy drive and did a lot
of work on it. The problem got fixed and the drive has been working
perfectly.
But, a couple of days ago I found that FALCON failed to load. It hangs
after the first disk. Testing a friends kit gave the same symptom.
Other games or ordinary disks works ok. Only FALCON fails.
Memory-tests works ok.
I strongly suspect the drive, because of all the troubleshooting I did
earlier. And here is the question:
The drive (Epson) has a trim-pot on top. What is it likely used for??
Spindle speed, read/write levels ......?????
I'm not sure, but I could have touched it during the work.
Any good answers???
regards,
Johan

I suspect this beeing the speed-adjust. Download
UFRCS1::DISK$FS:[FALKENSTEIN.ATARI.TOOLS]SPEED.TOS
and try it out..

SPEED.TOS:
Hmmm, error 66......
Did I download it the wrong way or?? Is it self-extracting?
FALCON:
This evening I installed HD_FALCON by John Harris on the harddisk.
FALCON 1.0 now loads!
FALCON 1.1 with Mission Disk 1 loads, but the game crashes. Could
be some copy problem.
This was interesting!

re. -1
yes, SPEED.TOS is self-extracting. In one of the last replies to note
9 you'll find a very good guide how to download these archives
without using NFT and pathworks.
