from within which application? In own programs you could use the
corresponding ASCII-code (somewhere above about 120 or so), in
applications like textprocessing with the Control- and Alternate-keys.
If you don't have a key-layout table it's a matter of try-and-error.

Word processors such as First Word and First Word +, have a menu which allows
you to select many language and technical symbols.
Presumably other WP's have this as well.
You can save the file in ascii format, and with the appropriate printer driver,
you can print out documents on most printers

1347.3 | First Word isn't too bad | TANNAY::BETTELS | Cheryl, DTN 821-4022, Management Systems Research | Fri Jan 15 1993 03:44 | 19 |
| My two boys (12 and 14) use Ataris to prepare homework and reports in French.
They use First Word which has a sub screen of all the accented characters they
need. The tool is very simple, allowing only very simple structure, basically
one font style and size with italics, underline, and bold.
They then use another tool which works with First Word called First Publisher
which is a layout program. You structure the page with places for pictures,
etc. and then pour the text from First Word into First Publisher. This program
also allows for more sophisticated fonts and styles, etc.
The advantage of this for children is that they can concentrate on the text
they are writing in the beginning and then, once they get it right, play with
fonts and layout if they wish. My younger son will usually just use the output
from First Word.
Unfortunately these programs don't have a French spell checker. The First
Publisher program is a bit clumsy to use.
