1310.1 | Have you read previous notes on C compilers? | YNGSTR::WALLACE | | Tue Sep 22 1992 11:53 | 5 |
| A 'DIR /TITLE = COMPILER' reveals note 1097 discussing C compilers in general
and note 1100 discussing ANSI C compilers. Not sure if either will answer your
question, but you may find something usefull in the discussions.

1310.2 | Go with Pure C. | PRNSYS::LOMICKAJ | Jeffrey A. Lomicka | Tue Sep 22 1992 14:12 | 16 |
| I don't speak one word of German, but I find that Pure C is the best
code development environment I have ever used on any system. If you
know C, you simply don't need the manuals.
(Bear in bind that I abandoned the Atari and now do all development on a
Macintosh using Think C. Pure C is MUCH better!, and that's with German
manuals.)
Everything you reallty need to know is in an English language document
written by Dan Wilga that comes with the US version from Gribnif.
Although the help is German, you can still use it to look up the
parameter lists to all the system services and library routines. The
rest of the user interface is in english.
If you are around Massachusetts somewhere, I could give you a demo.

1310.3 | | PRNSYS::LOMICKAJ | Jeffrey A. Lomicka | Tue Sep 22 1992 14:15 | 2 |
| ELF tells me you are in Belgium, so you would not be likely to have
access to Dan Wilga's document. I could probabally get you a copy.

1310.4 | I said Lattice C, I heard the voice of silence (me) | BACHUS::PIRLET | | Wed Sep 23 1992 06:41 | 17 |
| Thanks Ray, thanks Jeffrey
I did look through every note that was talking about compilers...
I have not been able to find about Lattice C from hisoft (I think it is
version 5.5 that is ANSI, and I think the product is quite different
in between v3 and v5...). All the other notes do comment about Lattice v3.
Yes Jeffrey I am from Belgium and in between UK and Germany so
both products are available, or rather could be ordered without troubles. I
have yet to find some daeler who knows about compiler...(same everywhere,
and same for any machine, included "compatible" I guess I know a lot more
about compiler than average dealer...ho well)
I guess I will turn to Pure C as entousiam (spelling??) seems a lot
higher for this product...(And I may have more chance to get help.)

1310.5 | Lattice C V5.xx?? | HADES::hilmar | Irren ist mnnlich | Fri Jan 29 1993 12:19 | 11 |
| The problem with that german PURE-C is, that Borland still holds the
licences for PURE-C, although this SW is (now) developed /maintained by
PURE Software. Part of the negotiations between Borland and the Pure
people was the agreement, that this software can only be sold in a german
language version.
What about Lattice C (v5.xx), sold by CCD here in Germany?
Regards. / Hilmar.
