I just inherited a 1024st with hard disk. I will use it for MIDI applications. Before i can transfer anything form the network into it i need a file transfer uitility. 1. I have Kermit on my PC, is there a version of Kermit for the ST. 2. If so how could i get a copy of it into the ST. I am very used to get things over the network into my VMS account and then into MSDOS machines but I really need a Kermit on a floppy to get started. Anyone living in Switzerland that can help me ??? Regards

If your MSDOS machine has 3.5 inch floppy disks, you have no problem, because if you format a 720K disk on your PC, the Atari can read it and write it with no trouble. You can then download the latest Whack to your PC (or Uniterm, but I'm biased toward Whack) and from then on transfer files directly to the Atari. Whack is discussed in topic 3. (Start at the end and read backwards for the latest information.) The file PRNSYS::DUA2:[LOMICKAJ.HOBBY.ST]XFERINTRO.TXT describes a lot of the mechanics involved. | |||||

Contact Jrgen Bettels in the Morgines building next week and he can give you whatever you need. I am also doing MIDI on Atari (one of three we have at home, a 1040ST, a MegaST, and an STE, most with maximum memory, printers, hard disks, etc.) Perhaps we can compare notes sometime. Cheryl |
