Has anyone upgraded their Mega 2 with an adspeed board? I am about to upgrade my mega 2 with adspeed to bump it to either 16 MHz or 25 MHz....I have been warned by a few friends that the 25 MHz might not be a good idea (you know bell shape performace curve...don't press the limits...your Atari might not keep going for more than 1.5 years with too high a speed....) Does anyone have any comments on how this might impact any of my games/C-LAB Software (Notator/Creator)? Will too High a clock spped hurt me? Please, I'm a dumb consumer who is being fed a line...I need to know the real story - Thanks, Len

re: .0 I don't know about how it will affect your machine over time, but the last I heard, C-LAB Notator will not work at accelerated speeds. Because they use cpu timing loops in the dongle protection stuff. I also heard that they weren't that interested in making a fix. I would check with them first though before investing. Does anyone have a MEGA STe with Notator out there, and does Notator work when the system is set at 16MHz? bill powers | |||||

Bill, I own C-LAB Notator and a MEGA STe (4M). I postponed buying the Mega STe untill version 3.1 of Notator was released as that version is the first to run on an STe. As stated in the Notator Manuals it will run at 16 MHz but Cache must be switched off. I have not experienced any difficulty since I have the STe. Screen updates are a lot faster than before because I upgraded from an "old" 1040 (DOS 1.0 and no blitter). I am very pleased with both Notator and the MEGE Ste. Roel. |
