Hi,
Is there anyone experienced with linking a LN03 to an Atari (1040).
The applicatons I use are Timeworks (DTP) and First Word.
Can I just connect the printer via the serel port, do I need special
drivers? I tried to find the answers in note 629, but they are all
talking about postscript. I am just talking about a normal LN03.
Thanks and may I wish everybody a merry Christmas & a very succesful
1992.
Regards,
Marten

You can hook it ot the serial port with an ordinary null modem cable, but you may have trouble with some software. I don't know about TimeWorks or 1st word. With PageStream, you may be able to use the LA50 driver, but I wouldn't be too sure of the results, and anyway, you couldn't get a full 300DPI unless you had the LN03+. With Timeworks Word Writer, you will have to configure the program to use the LN03 escape sequences for bold, italic, etc., using their printer configuration program.

Unless I'm very mistaken I don't think TimeWorks has an LN03 output. The only way I can get a TimeWorks - Digital link is by using a PostScript output and print it on a LN03R or LPS20/40 - provided only the standard fonts are used. Theo

Hi guys,
I heard about a converter which convert the parallel signal into a
serial signal.
Does anyone has any experience with it, and would it sove my problems
with eg Timeworks. I heard that the Timeworks printer driver is
included in the GEM environment (?) and automatically set for a
parallel port.
Thanks,
Marten
