1217.0. "ZOO V2.1 not V2.01G ???" by NCEIS1::BERENGUIER () Wed Dec 18 1991 11:49

    Hello all,

    	When i use ZOO on one PD software. It request that it's necessary
    	to use the V2.1 of ZOO.
    	But my version is the V2.01G.

    	Have V2.1 on the network for the ST.

    			Thanks Michel

1217.3Maybe I need a manual :-)WARNUT::KAYDWORM-mode noterWed Mar 04 1992 06:4321
I have a question on the use of ZOO, and this seemed like the latest ZOO note
so here goes ...

Is there a ZOO command which will enable me to have ZOO.TTP and the archived
file on drive A: and have the extracted files go to drive B: ?

I am trying to extract HACMAN2.ZOO, but I can't fit the .ZOO file and
all of the extracted files on a 720Kb floppy. I've tried creating a large RAM
disc (I've got 1Mb of memory), but then there isn't enough memory to run
ZOO.TTP.

The only solution I can think of at the moment is to extract as many files as
I can, copy them onto another disc, delete them from the archive then extract
the rest of the files and copy them, but this seems to be a very long-winded
solution.

Any ideas ??

Cheers,

    Derek.
1217.4Default directory has to be target dir.PRNSYS::LOMICKAJJeffrey A. LomickaWed Mar 04 1992 12:209
In any shell, you set default to the target directrory, and give the
full path name for zoo on the command line.

I do this is both MSH (Mark Williams Shell) and in NEOcli (Gribnif)
frequently.

If you don't have either of those, I know that Joe Oconnor has been
touting a zoo-specific shell lately that he likes. It might be able to
do the equivalent thing.

    I wonder about this version of HACMAN2. The version that I had on-line
    could be extracted into one double-sided floppy but I remember reading
    that Dave Bagget had really worked hard to get this to work. Also, I
    noticed that the hacman215 on terminator is an arc file so maybe it is
    possible you got an incorrectly packed version.

1217.6Beware - Man out of his depth ahead !WARNUT::KAYDWORM-mode noterThu Mar 05 1992 05:5224
I'm afraid that this is where my "I'm just a humble salesman" argument
comes into play :-)

I'm not running from a 'shell' (which I assume is some kind of Unix-style
command line interface). I have ZOO.TTP and HACMAN2.ZOO in (say) drive A:,
I double click on it and I get the normal .TTP command line. What I need is
a command which effectively says:

"extract A:/hacman2.zoo b:/*.*"

*and* which keeps the directory structure (I think that the qualifier for ZOO
is "/")

Do I need to have ZOO.TTP on A: with HACMAN2.ZOO on B: disc and then do:

"x/ b:/hacman2.zoo" ??

Would ZOO then put the extracted files onto A: by default ? This might work,
as the combined size of ZOO.TTP and the extracted files is probably less than
the space on a blank floppy.

Cheers,

    Derek.

Exactly what you suggest SHOULD work, yes. I was hoping you would come
to that conclusion from what I said.

Success !!

Like most of these things, it's simple when you understand the principles.
I tried what I suggested in .-2 and it did indeed work.

Now that I know how to copy files from the network to my ST *and* how to
decompress them look out for more stupid questions soon :-)

Thanks to everyone for their help.

Cheers,

    Derek.
