Please can anybody help with my hunt for an archiver which supports
subdirectories and remembers their FULL path.

I need to archive a selection of files in subdirectories and be able
to rebuild these subdirectories when dearc'ed.

    Regards

    Kevin.

LHARC.TOS will give you the capability to archive with subdirs. It
produces files with the extension .LZH
Use a shell to archive and dearchive conveniantly. Look in the
locations mentioned in 9.* to find it on the net...

| ZOO does this. I think the latest version of ARC does as well but I could be wrong on that one (check it out to be sure). Ray | |||||

Yup. I've collected a number of VMS tools that are useful for
uploading and downloading. I'm not the author of ANY of them, so if
they don't work with your version of VMS, (or if you need ULTRIX
versions) I won't be able to help you much.

    Directory HOSED9::DISK_KINDEL:[TRANSFER]

ARC.EXE VMS version of this well-worn archiver.
CVTARC.EXE Convert between ULTRIX & VMS file formats.
    	KERMIT.COM Runs KERMIT.EXE
KERMIT.EXE VMS version of KERMIT host software.
LHARC.EXE VMS version of this popular archiver.
    	RZ.EXE ZMODEM Receive
    	SZ.EXE ZMODEM Send
SZ_SEND.COM Command file to do ZMODEM sends with wildcards
VMSSWEEP.EXE VMS version of SWEEP utility.
VMSZOO.EXE VMS version of this popular archiver.

| RE -.1 & -.2 Thanks very much, I have just got myself an STE 520 (with a homemade ram upgrade to 1meg) but have used a friends ST at university for a while. I don't know about anyone else, but I transfer my progs to the ST via a networked PC, copying them to a floppy, then taking the floppy home to try the stuff. I usually de-arc them on the vax as it is a tad quicker. This method saves all the faffing around with kermit, XYZModem etc. You'll probably see me in here a bit more. Till later. Brynn. PS Anyone know of ST DMA (SASI ??) to SCSI Hard Drive converters, features (Clock ??), & software utilities, & price etc. Thanks again. | |||||
