1141.0. "ICD Multi I/O (?)" by KORG::MISKINIS () Fri Jun 14 1991 00:22

    Hi,

    	I was recently over a friend's house, and saw this ICD
    	Multi I/O board/box. It's for sale, but he doesn't know
    	anything about it. It appears to take the output of a
    	host adapter, and drive a hard drive, floppy drive, RS232,
    	Centronics parallel, and VIDEO? (on a db9?)...

    	He said "make me an offer...", but I have NO IDEA about this
    	device, and I assume it needs some driver software to operate.

    	ANY/ALL information is appreciated!

1141.1MIO <> 8bitQARRY::BHAMILTONBuzz HamiltonFri Jun 14 1991 10:169
    The ICD MIO is for the 8bit Atari.

    It came (comes?) in two flavors: 256K and 1Meg. It has it's own power
    supply and allows booting from RAM. I had one and it's a neat box for
    the 8bit world. The Video was supposed to be ICD's version of the 80
    column interface - it never happened. Production was suspended for
    awhile due to memory prices. It might be considered somewhat valuable
    (if you can find the right buyer!)

    Hi Buzz,

    	I think you are describing a different animal!

    	This thing (box) is labeled "ICD Multi I/O", and runs to
    	what looks like the ICD controller board.

    	There's input for a power supply (PC TYPE) on the
    	bare board, and Y's to 4 more identical power plugs.
    	to the boxa 34 pin and 20 pin
    	edge card connector (for a hard drive), two floppy ports,
    	and seems to take input from a 50 pin connector, the same as
    	what comes out of host adapter...

    	????

1141.3I forgot to mention...KORG::MISKINISFri Jun 14 1991 11:119
    Hi,

    	I forgot to mention that the box has a power input that
    looks like the standard 9/12 volt music equipment type
    power supply. The type that has an inner ring, and outer
    ring...

1141.4Why not call ICD?AIDEV::HUTCHINSONHutchFri Jun 14 1991 12:486
John,

  If you are still in a quandry as to what this goodie is, why not call ICD and
ask 'em? I've got their phone number at home which I could relay to you.

    I'm tellin' ya John - it's an 8bit Atari device.

    The box has connectors and support for a SCSI drive, parallel printer,
    and serial port. See note 114 in ASG3::ATARI8.
