1132.0. "Step Up Keypunch Software---WARNING!!!" by RGB::ROST (Make my foam pre-CBS) Wed May 29 1991 10:52

While on vacation in Florida, I picked up a software package at a flea
market. It was called "Personal Finance Pack" and published by Step Up
Keypunch Software of St. Paul, MN. I only paid $6 so I assumed it was
some shareware or PD programs. Imagine my surprise when I open up the
sealed box and out drops a *5-1/4'* floppy, labelled "Run for the Money
    for the Atari".

Now I know you can use IBM 5-1/4" drives with an ST, but distributing
software on such media seems kind of odd, to be blunt. The package
appeared to be factory sealed, and the box was a professional,
color-printed cardboard box, so I would expect that the intent was not
    a bootleg/ripoff....

Anyway, I would be suspicious of any stuff from this publisher marked
"Atari ST Series". If possible, open it up and verify there's a 3-1/2"
    floppy inside!

I'm going to try to find someone with an IBM PC to attempt a 5 --> 3
transfer (curious if the software will *run* on an ST...), plus I plan
on trying to contact the company if they are still in business
(copyright date on the package was 87).

Are you sure it wasn't for an Atari 800? They used 5" flopppies.

    Re: .1

I thought of that, but it was labelled "Atari ST Series" in rather huge
    letters.
