1124.1 | June Copy of User ????? | KERNEL::ADAMS | Venusian turned Aquanaut,-833 3790 | Fri May 17 1991 21:04 | 19 |

Pat,
Would that be the JUNE copy of ST User ????
I've had the May version for about 6 weeks now and last week I found
that WH Smith were restocking the same issue on their shelves. They
couldn't tell me when/if a new copy would be out. Where did you find
your copy, or do you subscribe ;-)
Like you, I've become a bit fed up with the content and would welcome
a more serious magazine. Maybe User will go and be replaced by
ST World :-).
I've glanced thro ST Format once or twice on the shelves, but never
been tempted to buy it.
Let's hope we can get a decent magazine and soon !!!!

1124.3 | Remember ST UPDATE? | SUBURB::JAMESH | Left Handed People are SUPER Natural | Mon May 20 1991 12:43 | 12 |
| I think the best ST mag I saw was ST Update (the early version). This
was full of good stuff, particulary by a guy called Ken Kurrough (or
something like that). He was good on the hardware, machine code,
interrupts etc but it went the way of all non-games mags. It did make a
brief re-appearance but died again. So yes, I saw the latest User and
my card is in the post! Let's hope we don't get an expensive mag with
free disks etc. I would rather buy any PD disks that I wanted. Talking
of mags, there's a Real Time Clock for the ST in this months Elektor.It
uses a MC146818 chip and plugs into the printer port with a through
connection for the printer. Software available from Elektor.

Hi Howard,
I have been looking for the Elektor for some time, I thought it had
gone off the market, I will go down to WHS and see if they have one.
I am looking for some info on TV decoders, (for a change of interest),
but the cloock sounds good, so I will have a look for that as well!
Re the ST World, I snt a letter saying the same a you ie. NO useless
expensive cover disk!.
Cheers

1124.5 | Poor Mags | OPG::CHRIS | Capacity! What Capacity ? | Tue May 28 1991 07:33 | 12 |
| I would like to know whats happening to all the publications
for the Atari.
I have not bought Atari ST User and ST Format due to the lack of
contents for some time. The disks on the front repeat the software
offered in previous issues the advice and content is poor. I have also
noticed that the cost is begining to rise.
I hope they start to pull their act together or perhaps a new magazine
will appear that offers somthing better than a games review magazine.

Hi Chris,
If you think the same as some of the rest of us, dont complain here.
Let your pen do the walking, and write to ST World, saying what YOU
would like to see in a new mag, it up to the potential customers to
dictate the contents, not the other way round.
