4096 colors compared to 512 on the ST
Better sound capabilities
SIMM chips on all STe's (I think...) makes for easier
upgrades
The MEGA STe runs at 16MHZ.
One word of caution, there are still some compatibility problems with
some of the older software. The problem is slight though, and if I
were in the market for another system I wouldn't hesitate to get one.
I have the blitter chip on my MEGA 2. It does help to speed up certain
functions, BUT I wouldn't rush right out and by a new system just
for a blitter chip.

PS. TOAD COMPUTERS out of Maryland is selling 1040STe's with
4MB upgrades for $699.00 (U.S.)

Hi Lewis !!
I am not so far from you ! I have a 1040 STE, i try to forget
the less info as possible :
1 - Blitter, graphic accelerator.
2 - Stereo Digital Analogic Converter, to play sound samples
access to Direct Memory Access and don't lose CPU time;
the demos like it !
3 - 4096 colors instead of 512, I know only a few soft which
use this extension, Dali 3 for example.
4 - One detail ! like Pcs you have the combination
CTRL + ALT + DEL to reset the machine.
(implementation on STF with desk accessory)
5 - I don't speak about the 2 sides drive ...
Bye, bye ...
RV.
