1045.0. "SPECTRUM 512 pictures" by COMICS::DSMMGR () Thu Jan 03 1991 12:09

    I have really 'got into' collecting SPECTRUM-512 digitised pictures.
    These have an extension of .SPC or .SPU. I currently have the better
    part of 100 of them which makes for a very nice picture gallery.
    My latest batch which I uploaded from a BBS (Starbase One - London U.K)
    are all of planets, space probes, nebulae etc as originally provided
    from the various NASA missions and observatories around the world.
    Most of them are of excellent quality.

    I am always looking for more digitised pictures covering any topic, so
    does anyone else have any they could let me have a copy of ? I am quite
    happy to trade.

    Also are there any picture file formats which are better than .SPC. I
    have seen some Degas stuff, but don't think it is quite as good.

    Hoping to hear from other picture collectors

1045.1would you share?CX3PST::WSC023::B_NOTTINGHAMBill NottinghamThu Jan 03 1991 12:3818

Jonathan,
I don't have but a couple of *.SPC files but I too would be interested in
collecting.

Any chance you could post yours to make them available to others.

I can get a directory of *.spc files from GENIE and post it here if it would be
helpful. (posibly download serveral).

your question still stands....

Is there a better format than *SPC?

    Hi Bill,

    Where are you based ??

    I live far from where I work and therefore downloading stuff onto the
    network becomes an expensive operation for me. I am quite willing to
    make copies of my .SPC files for you so let me know where you are.

    If other people are interested, perhaps we could make a .SPC library
    somewhere on the net. I.e perhaps if I give you my SPC piccies YOU
    could load them onto the network (just an idea 8^))

    I would be most interested in anything you could load up from Genie.

    Regarding me sending you mine, I am quite happy to mail you a floppy

    Cheers fellow art lover

    I wonder if there's a way of converting the .GIF files into Spectrum
    512 format ?
