1043.1Arkanoid: looking for it ?GVA05::BOULMIERThu Jan 03 1991 09:447
    Does anyone succeed in the copy of Arkanoid version II (revenge of Doh)?
    I didn't and I want to share the game with my parents (yes they like to
    play) and it is hard to play both with the same floppy.

    Any idea ?

1043.2SpeedBall IIAYOV18::GBURNS_YTSGod made it easy on meThu Jan 10 1991 05:395
    Any of you ST owners out there got SpeedBall II yet. I've seen it
    out for the ST but it's not out for the Amiga yet. P.s from the
    pictures on the back of the box it looks really good.

    Gary.
1043.3SIEVAX::JAMIEUse me, Use me... Ooops! Excuse me!Thu Jan 10 1991 06:2811
    Yes! I wrote about it in the Games Review note in this conference (131
    I think).

    Great game. One of the best. Addictive and stylish. Apparently the
    Amiga version is not going to contain all the features of the ST
    version though, since the hardware scrolling facilities on the ST were
    so hard to emulate on the Amiga that there wasn't much memory left to
    fit in the rest of the game. Also, the sound on the Amiga is one
    channel bleeps and the graphics only use two colours... ;-)

    I'd buy it anyway, though!!! ;-)
1043.4PD or Commercial Poker game?PIKES::BITTROLFFFri Jan 11 1991 11:495
Does anyone know about a good poker (7 card stud primarily) playing game.
PD is preferred but if you know about a commercial game I would appreciate
hearing about that also.

1043.5VINO::OCONNORAbominable Snowman in the MarketFri Jan 11 1991 12:0911

    There was a card game which used GDOS published in start. I beleive it
    played poker. I don't remember the exact issue but I will check
    tonight.

    Now for my question, I'm looking for a public domain version of
    HANGMAN. Preferably 1 or 2 players but just players would be fine.

    Thanks

    Joe
1043.6HANGOPUS == Hang ManYNOTME::WALLACEFri Jan 11 1991 12:234
Joe, try HANGOPUS. I think it is in the NaVAUS library, if not then let me
know and I'll upload it.

1043.7Draw Poker, sort of...PIKES::BITTROLFFFri Jan 11 1991 17:166
Re: .5

I have that one. It plays draw poker with a sort of a strange betting format.
I was looking for some others. Thanks for the pointer, though...

1043.11Cheap & cheerful games.NRMACU::BAILEYI am the hoi polloiThu May 23 1991 06:4820
I don't get a lot of time to play games, these days, and so find it difficult
to get into the modern complex programs which either need a lot of effort to get
started (e.g. flight simulators) or need long individual sessions (e.g. almost
everything!).

The sort of thing I prefer is the 'old-fashioned' type of game, which is simple
in design and can be just plugged in & switched on. The only one I've got for
my ST is "Arkanoid" - which is fine, but I have never got very good at it! On
my old BBC - now getting more and more temperamental - there were a whole load
of such programs, mostly copies of arcade games like Galaxians, Scramble,
Defender, etc.

Recently, I have noticed that some of the early ST games are being re-released
on a budget label, at about 8 a throw. I bought one which looked promising
("Rotor" - not bad, but with a few irritating habits), and was wondering if
anyone can recommend / castigate any others.

Thanks in advance for any input,

Chris.

    Thanks

I just tried it, and version 1.1 (the one I have) works great in both
color and monochrome on the 1040STe. (I run with 4MB)
