1000.0. "The Immortal" by SIEVAX::JAMIE (Use me, Use me... Ooops! Excuse me!) Tue Nov 06 1990 04:59

Well the first (?) graphic adventure game that requires a minimum
1 meg memory and double sided disk drives is out...

    The Immortal...

It's had great reviews and the animation is supposed to be so good
it's like watching a film (though from screenshots the background
graphics are pretty dull). (If anyone's got this game, a review
    would be REALLY appreciated...)

Is this the way games software is going for the ST ? Certainly a lot of
games require double sided drives - this isn't really that much of a
problem market-wise since all machines now sold contain double sided
    drives.

Traditionally, though, 1 meg memory is only really required by "serious
users" of the machine and the basic model is essentially a games
    machine.

Are people going to upgrade for the sake of the new breed of games ?
Or are the new breed of games going to saw their own legs off ?

At least with these games you feel you're getting a LITTLE bit more for
your money - and in an environment where a lot of people feel that
games are overpriced this may be a point in favour.

1000.1Yep, I've got it.SCAACT::BROWNLFri Nov 16 1990 13:5217
    Yep,

This is a good game. Although I am presently working on Dragon flight,
I bought this game, and of course turned it on. It is completly
animated. Your wizard walks through mazes and fights fights (you
jab/parry/cast based on what you do 'real-time" with the joystick.)

It's all 3-d, although not as neat looking as Cadaver, it is kind of
Gothic. It is a very fast paced game, to say the least, and I am
    looking forward to it.

Another game that is out that I just got is LOOM. It's got great
graphics and animation also, but spends lots of time loading between
super scenes. It is an interesting concept for a game.
