958.0. "Accounting for it ... " by HEAD::STEVENSON (All we ever look for ... ) Fri Sep 07 1990 05:30

    Hi,

    I'm afraid i'm after more recommendations! But you did so well
    the last time around i'd like your help on this one as well.

    I'm looking for an accounts package (double entry) suitable for
    use in a small business.

    I know there are several available in the UK and was wondering
    if anyone has experience with one/could recommend one.

    Any info. would be much appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Chris.

958.3Here's an accounting package...OVAL::HAYESIIan Hayes, @SBP, DTN 782 2447Wed Sep 12 1990 10:1416
    I've just recently bought a business account package called DOUBLE
    SENTRY from a PD library. Haven't got it up to speed yet but it looks
    pretty comprehensive with a wide selection of reports.

    It covers the complete accounting needs of a business excepting VAT in
    the PD version but VAT is included if you then buy the full version
    from the author (it's SHAREWARE).

    DOUBLE SENTRY got a very good recommendation from ATARI ST USER and for
    3 I didn't reckon I had much to lose.

    Ask me again in another 3 months after my wife's business' end of year
    and I'll be better placed to tell you how good it is(n't).

    Ian.

    I'm not sure if it's available in UK, but my wife runs her business on
    STaccounts. I believe it was orignally released as Accounts for the
    IBM. This program seems to do everything, including managing
    Inventories. We purchased it about a year and a half ago for $89.00.
    You do have to understand double entry posting, but it takes care
    of the rest.
