Question, Magazines like STFORMAT offer a free cover disk. Are the contents of the disk to be considered public domain ? Can I upload copies of the program onto BBS systems ? Some programs have a .DOC file associated with them that specifically states it is PD others do not. Since the S/w is being given away 'free' with the mag, what are the rules ?? Jonathan

Hi, Jonathan, Most of the programs on cover-disks are PD, but not all. For example, the recent full version of GFA Raytrace is not PD; and though some 50,000 readers of ST Format now have free copies of it, the copyright is reserved. I don't know whether it is the magazine's responsibility to state the copyright. I presume it would be. Regards, Carl | |||||
