790.0. "DIGITISER and FRAMEGRABBER" by RUTILE::BISHOP () Fri Mar 02 1990 03:53

    Can anybody give me any infromation on the following:

    	I am interested in obtaining a DIGITISER, and have seen one for
    sale in ST USER which comes complete with a Frame-grabber.
    	I understand you can run a video through it and 'grab' the frame
    and output it on the screen.
    	I would like to run a video through the DIGITISER and output it
    in animated form to the screen. Can i then 'run' a film through in
    animated form?
    	In other words can i animate a film? And what about sound? Will
    i need to dub it onto the film?
    	I have got 2 video recorders and a video camera, and many home
    made films that would look great animated.

    Thanks for any information supplied...

    Lewis.

790.2also waiting more infoBRSDVP::SIMONISFri Mar 02 1990 08:0814
    Hope you will get more answer than me (see note 746).!
    The Digitizer I spoke therein is the new version of the one you see
    some info in the ST magazine. ST FORMAT from UK makes lot of noise
    on this VIDI digitizer but it is not really honest. In fact it is a
    starting tool for black and white frame because to get color it is not
    easy at all and the result may not be compared to reality.It takes also
    a huge amount of operation before having something useful.It is why I'm
    waiting for this new release.

    You can do really nice film or 'animation' (I mean special effect) with
    DENISE (or IMAGIC ,I don't know its real name) made in Germany.
    But there too I would prefer to get the new version.

    Vincent and others,

    Is there any new news on this? I haven't seen anything in the
    mags recently about Digitising.

    Thanks in advance,

    Lewis.
