Dear Aladin User

First allow us to wish you a happy and bug-free year. We had hoped
to send you some good news, however it was not to be. Unfortunately
we are no longer allowed to answer questions/requests regarding Aladin,
its drivers, its support, or its updates.

Due to a lawsuit filed by Apple Germany and coordinated via Apple Europe
we had to stop all sales and support of Aladin in any form. For this
there will also not be an update of Aladin to a 128K ROM version.

This lawsuit included all items related to Aladin and thus applies to
the printer drivers also. We will therefor not be able to send out
printer drivers to anyone. Doing so is illegal and would result in
another lawsuit.

Many drivers were sent prior to the lawsuit. We suggest you check with
friends or colleagues to see if they own one.

We are very sorry that we had to take such drastic steps but if we
continue to sell Aladins and/or printer drivers you, the users, would
also be in danger of lawsuits from Apple. Apple might very well consider
setting a few "examples" with you.

If your are interested in emulation products there is a firm in Germany
(no relation to Softpaquet) which sells the Spectre 128 (GCR) and other
products that you might (will) find interesting.

PS: Problems with Aladin that do not require disks can still be sent to
Softpaquet (do not contact Fearn & Music for these problems) and we will try
to answer them as well as we can within the limits set by the lawsuit.

Wonder what the chances of SPECTRE GCR being next on the hit list now
that Apple's lawyers have the taste of blood...??????

Very little chance of a problem. Dave Small made a deal with Apple
back when he was with Data Pacific (Magic Sac) and the same terms
    appear to apply to Spectre.
