I need to set up a card-index type database for straightforward
text-retrieval. However I'm finding difficulty in finding a product
that can do this! Amazing.
Requirements are:
o Fast speed.
o Ablility to filter specified text fields.
o It should be able to word-wrap over multi-line string fields, so
that text input can be achieved rather like a word-processor, not like
a database.
o It should be able to write 'filtered' records to an ascii file.
The nearest I've got to it is Arnor's new database, Prodata, which can
do all the above EXCEPT word-wrap on text-input. This however is rather
important.
Can anyone help?
Carl

Hi Carl,
Some months, (year?) ago, I read of a Text string data base for the ST. It
was written by a graduate/ for graduate research, its design aim was the
storage and retrieval of text quotes, (extracts from literature). It
was designed to be free form, and could be searched and sorted on a
large variety of keys. I think this would be exactly what you want.
It was reviewed in STWorld, I will try to dig out the review for you.
Cheers
Pat K.
