719.1 | What programs? - Also, check drive speed. | RODNEY::PETERS | Don Peters, CTC2-1/F10, 287-3153 | Thu Dec 28 1989 12:57 | 8 |
| Can you be more specific as to what software doesn't work anymore? Some
commercial software is so heavily copy protected that it has problems with
certain drives. For example, Populous would often fail on my drive, even
after aligned by a certified Atari repair center. I eventually got a
replacement from the issueing company that worked fine. In general, tho,
I haven't had that sort of problem, so possibly the drive is slightly
out of alignment. You might try to get one of those programs that checks
the rpm of the drive to see if it is 300 rpm, plus or minus 2.

719.2 | I think you could be right | RUTILE::BISHOP | | Fri Dec 29 1989 04:06 | 17 |
| Don,
Software that doesn't work : - Universal Military Simulator
Fast Basic
Flight Sim II
These are a few of about 10 pieces of software that don't work.
Going on the asumption that the only copy-protected piece is
UMS then maybe it is my drive. Do you know of any PD software
that checks the rpm? If so where can i get one? Maybe some-one
could send me a copy of it or supply me with the PD library name
and address? I am in FRANCE, but have a British address aswell,
so library's in both GB & FRANCE would be ok.
Thanks in anticipation....

719.3 | Check out topic 399 | RODNEY::PETERS | Don Peters, CTC2-1/F10, 287-3153 | Fri Dec 29 1989 10:29 | 6 |
| I knew this conference had a discussion on this topic a while ago (I even
contributed to it), so I checked back. Sure enough, it was covered in
note 399. Replies 6 and 7 are especially relevant.
A SHOW KEYWORDS/FULL RPM would have been convenient, but RPM was not listed
among the keywords that were defined.
